Juni Wine Bar’s space was conceived as a cozy, organically shaped enclave—a warm pocket within Tokyo’s often rigid and highly structured urban fabric.

The design is centered around the main bar counter, highlighting it as the focal point: a sculptural centerpiece that showcases an evolving display of wine bottles, flowers, and handcrafted ceramics by Juni’s owner, Katy Cole. Its proportions and placement were inspired by the thermopolium, the ancient counter bars of Pompeii, bringing both a sense of history and a quiet monumentality to the space.

A palette of salmon tones, earthy textures, and soft curves evokes femininity and free-spiritedness. These elements invite guests to pause, reconnect with their senses, and enjoy a glass of wine—momentarily stepping away from the city’s daily pace and structure.
